LifeSpan Services: Retirees
Library Privileges
Milton S. Eisenhower Library (MSEL)
Official retirees of the university retain the MSEL privileges they enjoyed prior to their retirement. These include the use of all library services, including interlibrary services and remote access to online databases*.
A photo ID is required to enter MSEL. To activate your retiree privileges, present your official retiree identification card at the circulation desk on the main level of the library.
Electronic Identifications System:
In the past, the Milton S. Eisenhower Library on Homewood campus issued library cards to retirees upon presentation of their retiree identification card. The library has now switched over to an electronic identification system. To obtain library privileges, retirees must present their Johns Hopkins retiree identification card and a photo identification card such as driver's license or state identification card. The library will then affix a bar code to the back of the retiree identification card. The Johns Hopkins retiree identification card can then be used to enter the library, check out books, and obtain other privileges. Privileges granted to retirees will remain the same as those they were granted as faculty or staff.
If you encounter any difficulty obtaining your library privileges, please call FSRP director Jeff Pratt at 410-516-6060.
Welch Medical Library
Official retirees of the university have also been granted privileges at the Welch Medical Library. A Welch Medical Library identification card is required for admission to privileges, and must be requested at the admission desk. Admission desk personnel have been informed that retirees will be requesting library cards. The Johns Hopkins University retiree identification card may be used to assist you in obtaining library privileges.
