Walking Tours

Greektown: Get a taste of the new and the old during a walking tour of Greektown. This neighborhood, tucked away in Southeast Baltimore, is filled to the brim with culture, cuisine, and characters! Join us and meet existing neighbors, sample delicious, local Greek food, and learn about housing stock in the neighborhood. Our meeting place is steps away from the Bayview campus in the newest Ryan Homes development. Learn how you can quality for a LNYW grant of $5,000, plus other incentives.

Thursday, September 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Barclay: Barclay is in the midst of a resurgence with its growing housing stock, small business openings, and close proximity to Penn Station. This neighborhood has some of the most beautiful architecture Baltimore has to offer and we’ll show it off during our walking tour. Local developer, Telesis, will present their newest housing project that’s already bringing residents to the area. Meet recent Live Near Your Work grant recipients and learn how you can receive $17,000 from Hopkins, plus other incentive programs! Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Wednesday, September 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Station East: Station East is a small enclave in the Milton Montford neighborhood in Baltimore. This very popular development among Hopkins affiliates touts the tagline, “Why rent when you can own?” See the floor plans and meet the neighbors in this East Baltimore community, just minutes away from the hospital campus. Refreshments will be plentiful during this fabulous tour! Learn how you can quality for a LNYW grant of $17,000, plus other incentives.

Thursday, September 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. 


This non-traditional walking tour will start at a brewery where you’ll meet neighbors and business owners and learn about the numerous initiatives that are making Harwood tick. Share a pint and then venture out on this eye-opening tour. Did you know that if you purchase a home in Harwood, you can receive $17,000 from Johns Hopkins? Live Near Your Work and Other Incentive Programs for Homebuyers

Katie Walsh, Live Near Your Work Manager, will discuss the steps employees need to take to use a Live Near Your Work grant to help purchase a home in Baltimore City. Staff from Live Baltimore will discuss additional financial incentives available to all homebuyers, whether or not they participate in the Johns Hopkins Live Near your Work program.

Live Near Your Work: What are the Rules & How to Apply

Join Katie Walsh, Live Near Your Work Manager, to learn the ins and outs of this home buying grant for specific Baltimore City neighborhoods. This workshop covers the eligibility requirements, steps to apply, homeownership counseling suggestions, an overview of the neighborhoods where you can purchase, and the conditions of the program. Attendees will also receive guidance on how to navigate the home buying process.
