Faculty and Staff Assistance Program

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) serves employees of the Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.

FASAP offers:

  • Free, confidential, and professional support services for problems of daily living and emotional well-being
  • Assessment of mental health problems such as clinical depression and generalized anxiety with referrals to community services and resources for longer-term care

To schedule an appointment or to speak with an after-hours on-call clinician, call (443) 997-7000 (7-7000). There is no limit to the number of times an employee may access services. Immediate family members may also access FASAP services.


FASAP provides suitable resources to assist employees with the pressures and difficulties they may encounter over the course of their employment with Johns Hopkins. It is our goal to assist employees through difficult times and help them to develop a plan to remedy concerns.

Some common concerns are:

  • Stress and worry
  • Unhealthy use of alcohol or drugs
  • Life transitions
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Work difficulties
  • Performance and productivity
  • Family and relationships
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling down, overwhelmed, and tired
  • Financial stress

Employees are eligible for an assessment and short-term assistance for managing challenges in their lives. If longer-term assistance is appropriate, employees will be referred to outside resources for additional support. This can be through a health plan or community resources. Outside resources may charge fees for their services.

Getting help is free, easy, convenient and confidential. Our goal is to get to know you, understand the challenges you are facing, and to discuss how to move forward in a healthy way. FASAP services include:

  • Assessment of your current concerns
  • Brief, supportive counseling
  • Referral to appropriate and accessible community services and resources
  • Consultation
  • Immediate support and management for crisis situations
  • Management consultations
  • Risk assessment
  • Training, education, and outreach
  • Financial Assistance Program
