The child care centers listed in the table below partner with Johns Hopkins families.

If you want to consider other child care options, you can use LOCATE Child Care Services, a program of Maryland Family Network. Once you have your child care arrangements set, you might want to register for Backup Care for temporary or emergency care.

Homewood Early Learning Center

The center at the corner of Wyman Park Drive and Remington Avenue offers a nurturing, high-quality environment where children have the time and space to develop at their own paces. Downtown Baltimore Child Care Inc., (DBCC) operates the center.

The center accommodates up to 94 children, ages 10 weeks through preschool, and is open to all, including community members. However, priority admission is available to Johns Hopkins parents.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Early Childhood Center

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Early Childhood Center (Weinberg ECC), operated by the Johns Hopkins School of Education, is a premier early learning facility whose teachers and staff believe all children deserve the best education from the earliest age. The product of years of planning by leading child advocates, the state-of-the-art Weinberg ECC provides the highest quality developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for children using the latest evidence-based approaches to ensure children start school ready to learn. The center’s 12-month, full-day operation serves a diverse mixed-income community of children and families who live and/or work in the East Baltimore Development area and beyond.

Downtown Baltimore Child Care Center

Downtown Baltimore Child Care, Inc. (DBCC) provides outstanding early education and child care to a diverse community. Prevailing research drives the curriculum, putting play-based, child-initiated learning at the heart of every child's experience. DBCC's children thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually in the loving care of talented, well-qualified educators.​ As a member of the Downtown Baltimore Child Care Center (DBCC) consortium, children of university employees receive preferential admission.

Johns Hopkins Child Care and Early Learning Center (Bright Horizons)

The Johns Hopkins Child Care and Early Learning Center is designed to serve full-time faculty and staff, full-time day students, house staff, and fellows of the Johns Hopkins University Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and full-time employees of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System. The center is open to children ages 6 weeks through preschool for full-time care.

Bright Horizons Scholarship Program

This scholarship only applies to families who attend the Johns Hopkins Early Learning Center (Bright Horizons) and whose taxable income is less than $50,000. Eligibility includes:

  • Full-time JHH and JHHS staff
  • Full-time SOM, SON, and BSPH students, house staff, and fellows

Y Preschool at Weinberg

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Y Preschool Center reserves up to 50 slots for the children of full-time, fully benefited Johns Hopkins University faculty and staff. The Weinberg Y in Waverly is conveniently located near both the Homewood and East Baltimore campuses on E. 33rd Street. It was voted "Best Preschool Center in Baltimore City" by Maryland Family Magazine readers in 2014.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Child Care Center

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Child Care Center has32 spaces for children 2 to 5 years of age. Priortiy is given to employees of Bayview Medical Center.

The Children of the World Co-Op, Inc.

The Children of the World Co-op, Inc., is an international playgroup for children ages six months to four years with their parents or caregivers. Operating since 1989, the Co-op serves the Johns Hopkins community and surrounding neighborhoods.

The mission of the children of the World Co-op is to provide a nurturing, safe, and fun environment where international and American families come together to join in friendship, cooperation, and mutual support while building a sense of community. The playgroup meets in the Undercroft of the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation, 4 East University Parkway, across from the JHU Homewood Campus.

The year round program operates Monday through Friday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The "gently structured" playtime offers a variety of toys and activities, simple crafts, circle time singing, snack time, and outdoor play. ESOL classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at no extra charge for interested adult members.
