United Way Campaign
A message from President Ronald Daniels and Campaign Chair Patricia Davidson
Each autumn, we kick off the annual Johns Hopkins University United Way campaign, celebrating our partnership with United Way of Central Maryland as one vibrant example of the ways our University strives to engage with our surrounding communities and connect with our neighbors.
We know that the volunteer and philanthropic interests of our faculty and staff vary broadly; as a community, we express our generosity and compassion through countless activities. In each of the past several years, through the United Way partnership, the Johns Hopkins community has raised over $2.2 million in support of critical efforts to improve the lives of those in need. This is a significant accomplishment, and we encourage you again to identify a cause that is important to you, and contribute in any way you can.
The United Way campaign allows you to designate your pledge in a way that is most meaningful to you. Perhaps you’ll choose the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund to help build stronger communities by addressing needs such as education or employment. You might earmark your donation to one of several initiatives that strive to prevent family homelessness, increase access to healthy food, and connect individuals in distress with health and human services specialists through United Way’s 24/7 2-1-1 hotline. Or, you might designate your donation to any nonprofit whose work resonates with you personally. Your contribution, however you choose to make it, will make a difference in our local communities.
